The Composter

We decided we needed a good composting system. Mr. McKee and I had been trying to compost leaves and grass clippings, but we didn't really have a good system. Then he found the plans online for a really nice composter, and we set to work once the lumber came in.
First we practiced in his classroom.

Then, we took the operation outside.

The project grew and started to take shape

The composter spent a few days out on the concrete.

When we were done with the chicken wire, we started building the slats for the front of the composter.

Then we could see that it was starting to look nice.

Turning it the right way showed us how it was going to work.

And here it is with it's first batch of leaves and grass clippings.

  1. While helping make this composter, I learned how to use a drill, a saw, measure and use a hammer. It was a fun project and it was a good idea to build a new one.
